New Zealand has lots of Beautiful plants from the small Fern to the Enormous Rimu trees! But There are just as cool and weird things in the African dessert. the Cactus for example, can survive in the dessert with an Astonishing 3 ml of water each day! Imagine how much the Cactus would have in a year! probably about 1,095 ml's!
I figured it out because I just tripled 365. Thanks for reading and make sure to leave a comment!
Kia Ora Sam,
ReplyDeleteThis is a really good blog post as it is very straight forward, but descriptive at the same time. I have never heard of Rimu trees before, because I have only been in NZ for a little while. Some cacti can live on only 3ml of water, while some may need some more water than others. Something you can do better next time is tel us why you tripeled the 365, and why you even used the number 365. Other than that, a very cheerful post.
Happy blogging

Hi Sam,
ReplyDeleteWell done for figuring out the equation! Isn't it amazing how little water a cactus can live on however it would need to considering it lives in the desert and it hardly rains there at all!
What a great way to work out how to solve the equation. What I did was multiply 3mls by 365 days in the year and I also got 1095 mls which equates to 1.095 litres.
What other things do you think you would see in the desert that don't need to much water?
Until next time, happy blogging :)
Hi Emma, Thanks for reading my post and commenting,
DeleteI have done some research and found out
that there are lots of other Plants in the Sahara
Dessert that don't need much water. For example,
the Laperrine's Olive Tree, which is drought
tolerant.
bye
Sam
